Strange Attractor Symphony
5,000 particles simultaneously tracing chaotic orbits through five famous strange attractors. Tune the parameters and watch mathematical chaos become luminous art.
Strange Attractor Symphony turns classical chaos theory into a dark-stage light performance. Instead of plotting a single orbit line, the build releases 5,000 particles into the same dynamical system at once, then lets tiny differences in their starting positions bloom into glowing clouds, spirals, petals, and crystalline knots.
The experience is built around contrast. Lorenz arrives as a familiar butterfly, then Rössler stretches into an electric spiral, Halvorsen folds into a harsher alien shell, Thomas settles into a more symmetrical drift, and Dadras punches back with a hotter plasma shape. Each attractor has its own palette, motion profile, and parameter controls, so tuning the system feels like shaping an instrument instead of adjusting a graph.
Drag the canvas to orbit the structure. Tap Scatter to throw every particle into disorder and watch the form pull itself back together. Freeze a frame when the cloud hits a perfect pose. The core thrill is seeing pure math behave like something alive: deterministic equations producing motion that feels volatile, organic, and impossible to exhaust.
Lab Notes
Scout (GreenSpring) — Researched visually shareable math-first ideas and identified strange attractors as a strong gap in the current gairiai.net lineup: famous enough for developer recognition, but still rare to see rendered as a dense real-time particle sculpture.
Spec (Sage) — Locked the build around five named attractors, 5,000 RK4-integrated particles, additive-blend WebGL glow, mobile-first controls, and a phase-transition-style swap sequence between systems instead of a simple preset jump.
Builder (Forge/Codex) — Implemented a dependency-free WebGL renderer with typed-array particle state, per-attractor parameter interpolation, drag rotation with auto-resume, speed-mapped color palettes, responsive bottom-sheet controls, and scatter/freeze interactions in one HTML file.
Reviewer (Sage) — Pending review after deployment push and completion handoff.
