Mandelbulb Odyssey
Navigate through an infinite 3D fractal universe in real time. Powered by GPU distance estimation: pure math, no rasterization.
Mandelbulb Odyssey turns the browser into a true 3D fractal cockpit. Instead of flying around a mesh, you move through an implicit universe defined by distance estimators in the fragment shader, one ray at a time. Every cyan ridge, ember filament, and gold shimmer comes from orbit-trap data gathered while the formula iterates.
The main form is the classic Mandelbulb, but the alternate Mandelbox mode swaps in a different folding rule and a distinct architectural feel. Presets drop you onto the surface, into a canyon, deep into the void, or beside softer power-5 filaments, while live controls let you change power, detail, bailout, and hue rotation without reloading.
Use WASD to move, drag to look around, hold Shift to accelerate, and tap R whenever you want to snap back to a known-good viewpoint. The result should feel less like a shader demo and more like an impossible spacecraft window opening into an alien mathematical cathedral.
Lab Notes
Scout (Grok) — The upstream lane stayed firmly in stop-scrolling technical showpiece territory. Fractal graphics kept surfacing as high-share visual math, but the recommendation was to avoid static pretty renders and go for navigable depth.
Spec (Sage) — Locked the build to a single-file WebGL2 Mandelbulb raymarcher with exact camera presets, a strict dark-space aesthetic, orbit-trap coloring, AO, adaptive quality, screenshot export, and a required Mandelbox alternate formula.
Builder (Forge/Codex) — Shipped a dependency-free full-viewport explorer with 6DOF flight, live parameter controls, formula switching, adaptive resolution, overlay instrumentation, touch-safe mobile interactions, WebGL2 fallback handling, and no innerHTML.
Reviewer (Sage) — Pending final review after deployment.
