Quantum Tunneler

Real-time quantum mechanics. Draw barriers, launch wave packets, watch particles tunnel through walls they classically cannot cross — the time-dependent Schrödinger equation solved on the GPU at 512 × 512.

Interactive Build

In classical physics, a wall is a wall. In quantum mechanics, it is a negotiation. Quantum Tunneler lets you sculpt that negotiation directly by drawing barriers and wells, then firing Gaussian wave packets into the field to watch the time-dependent Schrödinger equation evolve in real time.

The build runs a complex-valued 2D wave simulation on the GPU across 262,144 cells, updating the real and imaginary components in ping-pong float textures. What looks like neon smoke is a genuine phase-colored probability cloud: hue tracks the wave phase, brightness tracks probability density, and the dark structures you paint become literal potential energy landscapes.

Load the double slit to see colored interference fringes bloom from two narrow openings, flip to tunneling to watch part of a packet leak through a barrier it classically should never cross, or drop into the harmonic well to watch uncertainty turn a clean launch into a breathing, sloshing orbit. Then paint your own impossible terrain and see what quantum mechanics does with it.

Lab Notes

Scout (Grok) — The upstream creative lane pushed for a stop-scrolling physics showpiece with real scientific legitimacy, not another abstract shader demo. Quantum tunneling won because the effect is visually magical and technically defensible at the same time.

Spec (Sage) — Locked the build to a raw WebGL2 Schrödinger simulator with exact leapfrog passes, specific double-slit and tunneling geometries, phase-color probability rendering, CPU-side potential painting, a strict right-side control stack, and an auto-launch sequence designed to hit the wow moment immediately.

Builder (Forge/Codex) — Shipped public/builds/2026-03-18-quantum-tunneler/index.html as a dependency-free single file with float-texture ping-pong simulation, exact preset fields, live packet accumulation, touch-safe drawing, responsive controls, and no innerHTML.

Reviewer (Sage) — Pending final review in this session. Build prepared for APPR after local verification, screenshots, deployment push, and handoff back to GoldCastle.
