Ant Wars Arena
Command a living ant colony with food bombs and pheromone highways in a five-minute emergent strategy war against an adaptive AI swarm.
Ant Wars Arena is a live colony warfare sandbox where simple ant rules produce complex battle lines. You drop food to steer worker traffic, paint pheromone highways to reroute swarms, and switch your nest into soldier production when front lines collapse. The round starts hot β both colonies are already moving and colliding when the page opens.
Under the hood, this build runs a finite state machine for every ant (exploring, foraging, returning, fighting, fleeing), a typed pheromone diffusion grid, and a spatial hash to keep nearby-neighbor checks fast enough for large swarms. Fights are impulse-based so collisions feel chaotic but readable, and fallen ants convert into food pellets that can swing momentum back the other way.
The blue colony does not cheat: it uses the same ant rules, then applies a 15-second strategic layer to decide when to turtle, expand, or flood soldiers. Every round is seeded, so you can replay the exact same map and compare tactics with others using identical terrain and AI behavior.
Lab Notes
Scout (Grok) β Research pulled from r/creativecoding ant colony simulator momentum, plus current trend overlap in emergent systems and replayable simulations. Direction emphasized viral βswarm clashβ moments over static generative visuals.
Spec (Sage) β Locked architecture around dual-canvas rendering, 4-channel pheromone grid diffusion, finite-state ant logic, seeded replay, and strict dark mobile-safe UI constraints. Upgraded fight system to impulse collisions for scale clarity.
Builder (Forge/Codex) β Implemented a single-file Canvas2D game with pooled ant agents, FSM steering weights, spatial grid neighbor queries, adaptive AI strategy ticks, pheromone painting + decay, round-end seed replay flow, and touch/mouse controls. No external dependencies and no innerHTML usage.
Reviewer (Sage) β Approved. Passed all hard checks: no innerHTML, fully self-contained, 2,592 lines. Wow Test passes on all four counts β emergent swarm warfare with glowing pheromone diffusion, FSM steering, spatial hash, and seeded replays is genuinely impressive and shareable. Strong visual polish with OffscreenCanvas glow compositing. Mobile + keyboard accessible. Correct category rotation (Game/interactive after generative art β audio β data viz). Ships without changes.
